SPOTLIGHT POST WTM WORKSHOPS 2010

NORDIC COUNTRIES SEASHOW

                                                   Stockholm ,Helsinki, Copenhagen ,Oslo
                                                                                           November 15-20 2010

We have finalised our planning of the Nordic countries workshops series for the week after WTM 2010.

Our  “Seashow” in November 2008 and 2009  were a resounding success with 21 exhibitors at both the 2008 and 2009 Workshops, and a total of over 250 attendees in 2008 and 2009 for the four venues comprising outbound tour operators, incentive Travel companies and Travel agents. Exhibitors were particurarly impressed with the quality of the attendees enabling them to meet with the decision makers of most of the major outbound operators in each country.

We will be hosting four of the Workshops on board Cruise ships while the ships are in port during the day and then the Exhibitors will sail overnight to the next port and do another workshop in the next city .

Hence calling it a SEASHOW rather than a ROADSHOW !!!

We will cover FOUR Cities - STOCKHOLM Sweden, HELSINKI Finland, COPENHAGEN Denmark and OSLO Norway.

 OBJECTIVE

To promote outbound travel from Scandinavia to Africa and the Indian Ocean Islands.

THE  MARKET

Almost 100,000 visitors from the four Nordic countries visited South Africa in 2009.Tourist arrivals from Nordic countries to Africa were not too badly effected by the global financial crisis and indications are for 2010 that tourism from the four Nordic countries will increase.

Sweden is the major market for Africa followed by Denmark, Norway and Finland.

Longhaul travel was on the increase  with key destinations being Thailand, China, Vietnam, USA, Brazil and Australia.

Trend is to travel more longhaul - a growth of 14% is already showing in 2008 to South Africa.

These four countries are seen as key markets for Africa with an excellent growth potential.

 WHO SHOULD EXHIBIT?

African and Indian Ocean Island Hotel groups, safari lodges; national, provincial and city tourism offices; resorts; attractions, car rental, airlines, golf and sports tour operators;

WHO WILL ATTEND THE WORKSHOPS?

Finnish, Swedish , Norwegian and Danish travel agents; outbound tour operators specialising in Africa/Indian Ocean Islands; incentive travel companies, travel press and Corporate Travel planners.

EXPECTED ATTENDANCE

We expect 60 –70 trade attendees at each workshop.

HOW WILL WORKSHOP ATTENDANCE BE PROMOTED?

We will be doing banner advertising in the most important Travel trade ezines in all four Countries .These include Maatttavikko in Finland. Travel News  in Sweden, Standby in Denmark, Norway and Sweden and Travel News in Norway and Take off In Denmark .

These publications reach all the travel trade and significant numbers of Corporate and Incentive Travel planners.

In addition we have excellent mailing lists and Email addresses of all the Key Players in each Market and we are receiving considerable support from African airlines and Representation companies based in Scandinavia.

All 2008 and 2009 attendees will also be invited.

The Public Relations campaign will also target travel journalists in all four countries (both Travel trade and consumer travel press) to generate publicity for the Exhibitors and articles/press trips for on going editorial exposure.

 WORKSHOP FORMAT

There will be a four hour workshop in each city with a smorgasbord lunch. The workshop format will be a FREE FLOW tabletop format.
