Great wines & fine dining in the middle of the Karoo
I hope you enjoyed reading my previous post – let me tell you some more about Rogge Cloof Guest Farm near Sutherland.
Not only is it a luxury guest lodge but is also a producing wine estate – possibly the coldest vineyard in the country and their wines are unique reflecting the magic of the Karoo! We particularly enjoyed their Rogge Cloof Saltpeter 2014 Syrah – they also produce a superb Cabernet and a Chenin blanc.
Talking of dinners and fine-dining Rogge has a Malawian chef who prepares the most outstanding fresh dishes. We enjoyed Buffalo Fillet one night and lamb chops the next – plus delicious farm style soups made from freshly picked vegetables from their greenhouse. It is their vision to produce most of their fresh vegetables and greens from here.
Rogge Cloof has a good variety of accommodation for as many as 40 – 50 persons, offered on a full-board or self-catering basis. They offer 3 homesteads, 3 cottages and 8 luxury Orion Suites. The self-catering units all have full cooking /braai facilities.
I would really recommend Rogge Cloof for a relaxing break but also a great idea for small meetings or weddings as they have the Rittersaal a large dining area seating 50 People with an outdoor enclosed stoep.
On Rogge Cloof guests can do game drives & walks, cheetah tracking, the most amazing star gazing; fossil hunting, volcano visits and Mountain biking….and Sutherland is only 30kms away where you can do star and sun gazing tours.
