Tanzania is endowed with unique tourist attractions such as the Serengeti plains with the only remaining large mammal migration, Mount Kilimanjaro, Ngorongoro Crater, Olduvai Gorge, Selous Game Reserve and the spice island of Zanzibar to mention a few. All of these attractions have been designated by the United Nations (UNESCO) as World Heritage Sites. Just recently, Serengeti, Mount Kilimanjaro and Ngorongoro Crater were recognized among the new Natural Wonders of Africa.
Serengeti National Park has been a cornerstone of tourism industry in the country and the Great Lakes countries in general. Tourism is playing an important role in the Tanzania national economy activities. However, the recent wave of poaching countrywide has not spared it. Therefore there is an urgent need to protect it by all stakeholders. Using its fame, Serengeti Safari Marathon conceived the idea to conduct an international marathon that will help to create massive publicity on conservation and tourism, both locally and internationally.
On the same context, companies partnering to sponsor the event, will have both local and international exposure for its products and services. With about a thousand (1,000) runners and spectators expected to attend, Serengeti Safari Marathon will be a unique opportunity for different companies/organisations and other stakeholders in general to contribute in the promotional efforts for youth talents in athletics, elite athletes, awareness on the climate change effects, nature conservation, international and domestic tourism whilst communicate with the public on their respective products/services. This will be quite a unique way of giving back to the community and other direct business partners for each sponsor.
Why Serengeti Safari Marathon? It’s all about bringing to local and international tourists awareness of tourism attractions in Tanzania, healthy and happier society, Culture, Heritage Sites, Resource Mobilization for conservation activities through Go Green Campaigns and Anti-poaching.
